OSRL is proud to be an accredited training provider to the oil, gas and shipping industries. This gives you the assurance that we are providing quality training to a specific level. Where a course is publicized as accredited, the training content will match or exceed the UK and international training standards as applicable. Our training courses are regularly audited to ensure that we are meeting the rigorous standards expected and this means that you can be confident that our training is quality assured.

All training courses delivered in the UK meet the national oil spill training standards where appropriate. It is important to remember that all accredited training must be refreshed every 3 years.

The UK Harbour Masters Association

In 2008, Oil Spill Response launched the UK Response & Control course for ports, harbours, oil-handling facilities and the offshore oil industry which is accredited to:

IMO Level 2 / UK MCA Level 4/4P / DECC Level 4

Delegates from UK ports and harbours who undergo this course receive 40 UKHMA CPD points with an additional 40 points to be gained if the Assessment Option is successfully completed.

The UK Harbour Masters Association

The objectives of the Association are to encourage the safe and efficient conduct of marine operations in ports and harbours and to promote the interests and professional competence of harbour masters.

DECC Training Standards

Published courses which are accredited by the Department of Environment & Climate Change (DECC, formerly BERR Level 1- 3), are conducted in Aberdeen. The UK Response & Control course (DECC Level 4) is offered in Southampton for UK delegates who require an IMO Level 2 equivalent certificate. All DECC-accredited courses are also available as client tailored options.

IMO International Standards

Oil Spill Response has had extensive experience in working with the International Maritime Organization to deliver its Model Training courses. We have also received accreditation from the Nautical Institute to deliver such courses on behalf of the MCA, Oil Spill Response's IMO Level courses are recognised by the IMO through our accreditation by the MCA.

The International Maritime Organization is an agency of the United Nations responsible for improving the safety and security of international shipping and preventing marine pollution from ships. The IMO's objective is to encourage rafe, secure and efficient shipping on clean oceans.

ICS 100 Certificate

Incident Command System Certificate 

This online training module is intended as an introduction and overview of the Incident Command System (ICS) and is the pre-requisite for the advanced level ICS training. Based on Canadian and US national standards, this course is designed as an awareness level for any personnel in a support role, either on or off site during an incident.

ICS 300 Certificate

ICS 300 CertificateICS 300:

This course delivers ICS in a fresh and unique way incorporating a mix of presentations, quizzes,

demonstrations and exercises to reveal how ICS can be effectively used in an emergency incident.

Delegates will be encouraged to share their own personal knowledge to enhance their training

experience. An ‘Incident Action Plan’ will be produced during the course and delegates will be

able to take this knowledge forward to replicate the process in developing their own plans. Being an

effective member of an oil spill response Incident Command Team requires specialist training and

the Applied Incident Management System Training course is an excellent knowledge-builder, whatever

your role or experience within your Incident Command Team.

 

A pre-requisite of taking ICS 300 Applied Incident Management System Training is completing the

ICS 100 and ICS 200 online courses. The fee for the ICS 100 and ICS 200 online courses are

included in the ICS 300 course fee and the course passwords will be issued as soon as payment

has been received. Please ensure you plan ahead and make time to take the ICS 100 and ICS 200

E-courses.

 

A certificate of completion is awarded to delegates taking the ICS 300 course.

UK MCA Training Standards

The UK Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) stipulate that all Oil Spill Response training must be delivered by an accredited training centre. Oil Spill Response was the first oil spill training organisation to receive such recognition by the UK Nautical Institute to deliver the full range of UK Oil Spill Response training courses on behalf of the Nautical Institute.
